Best Setups

A Custom Keyboards setup is not a fashion loadout. It is a board that steps for money, a keyboard that kicks with real Kick Power, and enough slots that you are not throwing rares on the ground. This page is layout thinking. It will not name fictional artisan sets. If a YouTuber shows a named cap this wiki cannot verify, ignore the name and look at the step money.

The three layers

  1. Keyboard. Kick Power first. Keyboard tiers and how to kick.
  2. Board. Slots filled with A/S keepers. Keycap tiers.
  3. Mutations. Locks on pieces that punch above rarity. Mutations.

Skin plots are a fourth layer that does not pay. Buy them when the first three are bored.

Early setup

Fill every slot. Density beats quality. Step the whole board. Sell the worst rarity only when a better roll is in hand. Redeem codes so extra cash hits this phase. Follow Getting Started. Do not leave two slots empty because you are waiting for a secret that has no published odds.

Mid setup

Slots plus Kick Power. Replace C/D caps. Keep mutants even if the tag looks mid. Train speed if you already place as fast as you roll. Upgrade priority is the shop version of this paragraph.

Layout habit: put highest step money where you naturally walk after a kick. If you AFK, put them in a cluster you can stand on. The game pays when you step, so a beautiful checkerboard you never walk is a bad setup.

Late setup

Duplicates become trade bait. One S on the board, extras in inventory for trading. Do not clog slots with four copies of the same mid cap unless they all pay. Use keycap value when someone offers a swap that would punch a hole in your step path.

If you rebirth, expect to rebuild density first, peak pieces second. Rebirth. A late setup that cannot survive a reset is a museum, not a tycoon.

Event setup

During Boba, leave a couple of slots flexible for quest drops. Do not convert the entire board to themed caps that pay nothing. After the window, sell the duds and restore keepers.

What a bad setup looks like

  • Empty slots next to a legendary in the backpack.
  • Skin plots upgraded, Kick Power ignored.
  • Auto-sell eating mutants.
  • Trading away the keyboard that was doing the rolling.
  • Standing nowhere near the paying caps.

Fix those before you hunt a new “best” screenshot. The best setup is the one you step.

How to copy a plot you like

You cannot copy a skin and expect the same income. Copy the ratios: Kick Power versus slots versus keeper count. Ask the player what their step money is, not what the cap is called. If they will not answer, walk away and kick your own board.

Pair this page with the Players Hub and Guides Hub. Layout without Kick Power is decoration. Kick Power without slots is a clogged hopper. If you only change one thing after reading this, fill every empty slot before you buy another skin plot.

A setup is also a schedule. Kick, place, step, then walk the paying cluster once before you open chat. If you trade, close the window and step again so you know the new piece belongs. If you AFK, stand on the cluster, not on a skin plot. If you rebirth, rebuild density with whatever pays, then restore mutants from inventory or from trading. Codes still belong at the start of that hour; redeem them on codes so extra cash hits Kick Power instead of a second cosmetic. That is the whole layout doctrine for a 4-player tycoon that already pays while you are offline.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Codes, Kick Power, trading, and Boba answers in one place.

What is the best Custom Keyboards layout?

A full board of high step-money keepers plus a high Kick Power keyboard. Names are unverified; numbers on the HUD are not.

Should I copy a YouTuber board?

Copy Kick Power and slot density, not unverified item names. See keycap tiers.

Do skin plots matter?

For looks only. Buy them last per upgrade priority.

How do mutations change a setup?

They can make a mid slot pay like an A. Lock them. Read mutations.

What if I rebirth?

Rebuild density first. Follow rebirth so you do not restore cosmetics before Kick Power.
