How to Trade in Custom Keyboards
Use the live trading window to skip bad RNG without donating your only mutant.
Custom Keyboards ships with trading in the title. You share a 4-player server. That is small enough that every trade is personal and large enough that a bad deal still hurts. This page is the procedure. Trading is the culture and scam list. Keycap value is the language you use in the window.
Trading is optional. You can stay f2p on kicks and codes forever. Trading is how you convert duplicate S caps into the missing piece instead of rolling for another hour.
Before you open the window
- Know your keepers. Keycap tiers and mutations first.
- Lock mutants so a misclick sell does not delete the offer.
- Turn off auto-sell and auto-farm. A script that sells mid-trade is how people rage. See scripts.
- Park in a safe zone if the game has one, so kicks and steps do not fire while you talk.
- Screenshot or remember your step money on the piece you are offering. Demand without a number is noise; a HUD earnings readout is not.
Do not trade in the first ten minutes of a new account. You cannot price what you have not stepped.
How a 4-player trade feels
There is no huge marketplace. You walk up to someone, open the trade UI, and put items in. If the window supports cash, use it to balance. If it only supports items, balance with duplicates, not with Kick Power keyboards you still need. Keyboard tiers are progression tools. Trading away your only high Kick Power board for a pretty cap is how plots stall.
Go-first is the main scam. If someone asks you to add first because “the window is broken,” decline. On a 4-player server they can leave the moment they have your mutant. Confirm both sides show the same items before you accept. If the UI flickers, cancel.
What is fair
Fair is step money plus mutation plus demand this hour. A mutant that two of the four players want is worth more than a blank higher rarity nobody steps. Use keycap value. Do not quote a RAP from a different Roblox game. Do not quote Build a Keyboard dumpling values. This is a different economy.
Duplicates of S caps are currency. One S for one S is fine if both step similarly. Two A mutants for one S can be fine if you still have a full board. Your last paying cap for a maybe-better cap is not fine.
Event pieces during Boba can be overpriced because they look new. Check whether they still pay after the event. If they are quest items, finish quests before you trade them away.
After the trade
Place the new cap. Step it. If it pays less than advertised, you learned the lesson; do not immediately trade it back in panic. Update your board using best setups. If you now have a hole in Kick Power, buy from the shop rather than trading your last keyboard.
Codes do not transfer in trades. Redeem codes on each account yourself. Group rewards from Kick a Keyboard are per account too. See group rewards.
Mistakes
- Trading during auto kick so a new roll overwrites the offer.
- Accepting a window that changed at the last second.
- Paying an S for a skin-plot cosmetic.
- Trusting a user who says they are the owner cemoshh. The owner meeting you is rare; the impersonator is not. Verify through the Kick a Keyboard group, not a chat tag.
- Rebirthing right after a trade that filled your board. Read rebirth so you do not reset the pieces you just paid for.
Trade slowly. Kick Power still prints money while you think. A rushed accept is the only way this 4-player economy steals a session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Codes, Kick Power, trading, and Boba answers in one place.
Is trading required in Custom Keyboards?
No. You can progress with kicks, codes, and Kick Power. Trading skips bad RNG.
How many players can trade at once?
Servers hold four players. Deals are local to that server, not a huge auction house.
Should I go first in a trade?
No. If the other player demands go-first, cancel. Details are on trading.
Do codes transfer in a trade?
No. Redeem listed strings on each account using how to redeem.
Can scripts trade for me?
Do not. Auto-sell mid-trade is how you lose mutants. Keep the window manual.
